The torque limiter on a standard decanter centrifuge does not provide it's operator with information as to the level of torque that is being generated at the gearbox during processing, it only provides protection from excessive torque conditions that could damage the gearbox. Due to this limitation, operators would frequently reduce the flow rate to the centrifuge lower than necessary in order to avoid plugging. The Optimizer torque monitor eliminates this situation by providing the operator with a real time display of the torque level. The adjustable preset for high level will interrupt the pump operation to prevent plugging when reached, avoiding costly downtime.
